On April 29, 2025, the American University in Vietnam (AUV) hosted its second strategic meeting with leading partners in the semiconductor industry, reaffirming its strong, long-term commitment to developing a comprehensive and sustainable training program in semiconductor technology—an industry that is pivotal to the future of global innovation.

The event brought together key stakeholders and experts from prominent organizations, including Synopsys—a global leader in semiconductor design solutions; Arizona State University (ASU)—a top U.S. public university renowned for its research and high-tech engineering programs; and YS Talent—a reputable Japanese recruitment firm specializing in providing talent for major semiconductor corporations across Asia.

During the meeting, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the trends in semiconductor engineering education, particularly in light of the global shift in semiconductor supply chains and manufacturing toward Southeast Asia. With its strategic partnership with leading institutions like ASU, AUV aims not only to deliver internationally standardized curricula but also to emphasize practical application and global employability.

AUV is committed to building a pioneering academic program in semiconductor engineering that tightly integrates theoretical foundations with hands-on experience. The goal is to prepare graduates not only for opportunities in the United States—a familiar destination for international education—but also to expand career prospects to advanced markets such as Japan, South Korea. Additionally, AUV seeks to connect students with multinational corporations, R&D centers, and high-tech enterprises through its extensive network of strategic partners and professional recruiters.

Dr. Tran Nguyen Thy Binh, Founder and Chairwoman of AUV, reaffirmed the university’s vision of cultivating a “Generation of Global Semiconductor Experts” right here in Vietnam, contributing to the international development of this key industry.

The meeting highlights both challenges and opportunities for faculty, as well as the essential roles of training programs, university R&D, industry linkage, and infrastructure development—reinforcing the momentum of the initial gathering and underscoring AUV’s ongoing efforts to expand collaboration, enhance educational quality, and nurture a skilled technical workforce poised to play a vital role in the global technology landscape.
