About the University Preparatory Program (UniPREP)
The UniPREP program is your first step toward completing an American-style post-secondary education at AUV. Comprising a well-designed curriculum, UniPREP combines rigorous study in an Intensive English Program (IEP) with a capstone course designed to put the finishing touches on our students’ preparatory education. Entitled University Success (UNI 100), this one-credit capstone course focuses on the acquisition of soft skills critical for success at AUV.

The Program Overview & Outcomes
Levels of UniPREP Instruction
- Beginning
- Intermediate
- Advanced
The instructional level depends on the results of an English-language placement test. Students will begin their studies at levels corresponding to results of initial assessments.
Intensive English Program (IEP): Courses are designed to foster the acquisition of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in the four essential skills:
- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Speaking
University Success (UNI 100): The capstone component of the UniPREP program, this one-credit course focuses on the following skills and knowledge necessary for success at AUV and beyond:
- Study skills and learner strategies
- Time management
- Research skills and academic referencing
- Culturally-based classroom expectations
- Digital presentation and public speaking skills
Hours: 25 per week
Semesters: 2 to 3 (depending on the student’s placement level and classroom performance)
Expected proficiency level upon completion: B1+ to B2 (CERF)
Eligibility: Evidence of high school graduation or accredited home-schooling program. Completion of the UniPREP placement test i.e. initial assessment
Upon completion of the two components of UniPREP, students will have:
- Successfully prepared for admission to AUV or a partner university in the U.S.
- Acquired advanced proficiency in English for Academic Purposes
- Developed critical thinking and analytical skills
- Attained soft skills necessary for college success, including time management, public speaking, and digital presentation skills
- Gained an appreciation of culturally-based, American classroom expectations
