Over two decades ago, Dr. Binh Tran returned to her home country to help provide educational opportunities to young people. Out of that desire came the APU International School - a leading K-12 institution with campuses in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.
Building on that success, a long process began with the ultimate goal of creating the first American-styled university in Vietnam.
An investment license was received in 2009 and a ground breaking for the campus conducted in September 2010. US university relationships were created with the University of Missouri, Kansas City, campuses of the California State University, State University of New York and other high quality colleges and universities.
Dr. Roy J Nirschel was appointed as the Founding President of the project and an International Advisory Board of leading US educators and leaders in art, science and medicine was established.
With support from the leadership of DaNang and others, approvals were received from the government of Vietnam in 2015 with courses and degrees anticipated for fall 2016. AUV the American University in Vietnam - will offer strong general education foundation courses, initial degrees in business, marketing, management, hospitality, communication and computer science. Future degree plans include pre-medicine, health sciences, engineering and other disciplines.
